KATHRYN L. REYNOLDS

Co-FOUNDER, CHAIRMan & Chief Executive Officer

Katy has over 35 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate strategy, and operational executive management. Prior to founding Shibusa Systems, Katy founded and managed her own real estate development company where she led the design and development of 16 Powerhouse (75,000sf) in Sacramento, CA - the first NZE, LEED Platinum mixed-use development to deliver greater than 40% IRR. Prior to that, Katy was CFO for Lighting Science, a publicly traded LED lighting company and worked for Pegasus Capital Advisors in private equity. Katy spent nearly 15 years in her early career working for Merrill Lynch International in investment banking, corporate strategy, and wealth management.

Katy is a member of the Urban Land Institute, serving on the Responsible Properties Investment Council and the local ULI Louisiana Advisory Board.  Katy was a founder and Chairperson of the Advisory Board to UC Berkeley's Political Economy Department.  Katy is also a graduate of Goldmans Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.

Katy received her BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.

MICHAEL C. GWYNN

Co-Founder, Chief TECHNOLOGY & innovation officer

Michael brings over 35 years of operations leadership to Shibusa Systems, covering business management and strategy, information technology, engineering, logistics, and manufacturing across technology startups to legacy industrial organizations.  Most recently at GE Digital, he developed and optimized the engineering operations for a 600+ team building a cloud-based Brilliant Manufacturing platform for legacy MES (manufacturing execution systems). Prior to GE Digital, Michael spent 13 years at Cisco Systems leading several operational transformations including operationalizing the management of the IT portfolio, revamping customer entitlement recovering $100M in lost opportunity, and implementing a shared services model for a 5,000+ sales organization. Michael began his career developing the operational infrastructure for a successful multi-million-dollar technology startup in Silicon Valley in the mid 1980’s.  Mike is a native of the Bay Area and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. He is passionate about mentoring and has coached the San Ramon High School girls’ varsity basketball team, successfully leading the team to California State Championships.
