  • Yes. Every home is engineered for high performance: better insulation, airtight assemblies, integrated ventilation strategies, and lower operating costs.

  • We have designed a state-of the-art HVAC system including an ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) to provide continuous filtered fresh air throughout the home to improve air quality.  We also offer a whole-home water filtration system.  Furthermore, all of our building materials have been vetted for health qualities to eliminate products that off-gas VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

  • Depending on the model and team size, homes can be assembled in weeks, not months. Digital precision and simplified components dramatically reduce delays.

ABOUT SHIBUSA

  • Shibusa homes are not built in a factory and shipped as large modules. Instead, we use a precision-engineered kit-of-parts system that ships flat, assembles quickly on site, and allows for far more design flexibility. You get the speed and quality of industrial manufacturing without the constraints of factory-built boxes.

  • No. We don’t build the home in a factory. The components are manufactured, not the entire structure. Think “IKEA, but for high-performance houses.” This dramatically shortens lead times and lets construction happen on your schedule.

  • SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) are high-performance building panels made of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, usually oriented strand board (OSB). They replace traditional framing and insulation with a single, tightly integrated component.

  • Our SIP-based assemblies form the backbone of every Shibusa home, providing:

    • Superior strength and durability compared to traditional framing.

    • High thermal performance, drastically reducing heating and cooling costs.

    • Airtight, healthy environments with improved indoor air quality and comfort.

  • Yes. SIPs perform well in hot, cold, humid, and mixed climates. Their air-tightness and insulation are beneficial in all regions, especially where energy costs are high.

  • Yes. SIPs are highly energy-efficient, reducing heating and cooling needs due to superior insulation. They use fewer materials than traditional framing, minimizing construction waste, and can incorporate responsibly sourced or recycled materials to lower environmental impact.

ABOUT OUR BUILDING PROCESS

  • Across the country, communities lack “Missing Middle” housing — the small, space-efficient, and attainable homes that fall between single-family houses and large apartment buildings. These homes used to be common: duplexes, fourplexes, cottage courts, townhomes, and small multifamily buildings that fit naturally into neighborhoods.

    Today, they’re rare. Zoning barriers, rising construction costs, and labor shortages have made them difficult to build, even though demand has never been higher.
